Vincent van Gogh received his first drawing classes when he was 13 years old. He went to school in Tilburg where he also wnet to boarding house at the St. Anneplein.

Vincent received lessons here from one of the best drawing teachers of that time: Constant Cornelis Huijsmans. He worked according to traditional academic rules in which the drawing was central to the perception.
