Van Gogh Mural 's-Hertogenbosch

's-Hertogenbosch: Sint Lucasstraat

This six-meter-high mural by Bossche artist Eric van Boxtel zooms in on Van Gogh's social environment: "The mural shows Vincent van Gogh as an energetic artist and passionate person, depicted around him are people who were close to him. People who helped him, for whom he felt love or by whom he was inspired. Such as farmers, life partner Sien and his brother Theo, who financed him and with whom he corresponded a lot," says Eric. The lively style refers to Van Gogh's brushstroke of painting and formal language and depicts his restless spirit. The text on the wall comes from a statement made by Van Gogh: 'Close friends are truly life's treasures'.

The mural in 's-Hertogenbosch is a collaboration between Zuidlijn, Kings of Colors, Het Noordbrabants Museum, housing corporation Zayaz and Van Gogh Brabant.
