Vincent van Gogh Informatiecentrum (Vincent van Gogh Information Centre), Etten-Leur
April 1881-December 1881: Having failed as an art dealer, teacher and preacher, Vincent van Gogh arrived in Etten. He lived and worked with his parents in the parsonage.
Van Gogh found his first models in Etten and he became inspired by the landscape.
Next to the Reformed Church where Van Gogh’s father was a minister is the former verger’s house. This characteristic and picturesque property on the Market is now the perfect place to learn about Van Gogh and his relationship with Etten-Leur.
The Vincent van Gogh information centre illustrates the artist’s early period by means of a wall display and a film. You can see and hear how Van Gogh laid the foundations for his later masterpieces.
Film and guided tours
Volunteers from the foundation can provide on the spot information. Small groups can watch the film ‘Vincent van Gogh, the sower of Etten’ in the information centre (EN, D, F and NL). Highly recommended! Larger groups (> 20 people) can watch the film (on request) in the nearby cinema.
If you want to round off the story of Van Gogh in Etten-Leur completely, take a guided walk through the centre!
