Cycle around the Brabant countryside where Van Gogh lived and worked, the countryside that inspired him and which he embraced in his heart. Follow in his footsteps and admire the places that had such a great influence on this world-famous artist.

The Brabant life and landscapes form the basis of the works of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). His love of simple people, the countryside and the farmland all began in the beautiful province of Brabant.

Van Gogh’s Brabant story
The cycle route comprises a 335km tour, divided into five unique routes. The Van Gogh cycle route takes you past all the Brabant highlights in Vincent’s life and painting career. Five Brabant communities play an important part in this. You will cycle through Zundert where Vincent was born and raised. Tilburg takes you past the place where the young Vincent enjoyed his first drawing lessons; and it was in Etten that he sketched his first models. Nuenen played an important role in Vincent’s life; it was here that Van Gogh painted masterpieces such as Weaver Standing in Front of a Loom and the famous Potato Eaters. Just outside of Nuenen you will find the unique Van Gogh-Roosegaarde cycle path. It's part of the Van Gogh cyclen route. And if you want to learn more about Brabant in Vincent's era and see works from his Brabant period, visit Het Noordbrabants Museum in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

See Brabant through Vincent’s eyes
The route not only allows cyclists to appreciate Van Gogh but also admire the beautiful Brabant stage set landscapes. The cycle route is laid out in accordance with the existing cycle route network and is indicated by separate and clearly recognisable Van Gogh signposts.

Van Gogh Route information
All the information about the cycle route is available online. A folder with maps of each track has been edited in Englsih and Dutch. It's available at the various Van Gogh locations in Brabant.

The Van Gogh cycle route is an initiative of Van Gogh Brabant and Routebureau Brabant.
